South Africa Trade

Two summers ago I was fortunate enough to travel to South Africa to visit my sister.  After a total of 36 hours of travel, passing through Dubai, I reached SA.  While I was there I had to the fortune to see the volunteer work my sister was doing.  The picture to the left is my sister teaching some children an American childhood song.

In addition to helping my sister in an orphanage, school, and in a clinic, I was able to go on a safari, visit Cape Town, and see the local culture.

On day while helping a few kids with their chemistry homework, I made a deal with one of the boys. The deal was if, I helped him and gave him a hand full of marbles that I used to play with, and a new soccer (futball) ball, he would give me his South Africa flag that was hanging in his room.  Originally he was hesitant, nut after seeing my marbles, and the new soccer ball he agreed upon it.

My entire experience in SA made me realize that we are so fortunate to be able to live the life style that we desire.  It also made me realize how easy an exchange can be made without using currency.  Not only did Kofi gain a new ball, he also finished his school work.  I on the other hand gained a friend, and the respect of his peers.
